Years ago, an extraordinary cooperation amongst various stakeholders from education, music and architecture have developed a shared vision: it was their wish to create the ideal place for teaching and learning, researching and developing, producing and performing music. They named their vision "Musiktraumzimmer" - musical dream room.

Thanks to the generous support from various sources, their visionary idea has taken shape, has grown and has developed to become a unique center for jazz.

It's a dream come true story that has materialized and today presents itself as a research lab for music.

The vision has become reality and has enabled the creation of an inspiring place of education, encounter and performance – a platform for musicians from all over the world.

The Jazzcampus Basel understands itself as a vibrant and dynamic place with international flair and renown, offering the jazz genre a foundation unique in Europe.
