Magmatter is a jazz fusion band founded in 2024 by Elijah Saxton (drums), Lucas Santin (keyboards), and Miguel Mandrak (guitar).Although each member has strong academic roots in jazz, the group incorporates other musical styles such as rock and funk, among others, to create its own unique sound.Magmatter is defined by strong group interaction, stage presence, and fast, virtuosic improvisations.The name “Magmatter” itself is a fusion of two words: “magma” and “matter.”
“Magma” represents the essence of the group—the blending of musical styles, the strong interaction, and the explosive attitude on stage.
“Matter,” on the other hand, refers to the substance itself, which is the music!

Jordi Roviró 10tet - everything has led us to this moment

With the aim of pushing musical boundaries and composing for an ensemble for which there are hardly any precedents, Roviró developed a work for an extraordinary tentet. The project was originally created as an entry for the 2025 Zawinul Prize and combines the soundscapes of a jazz quintet with those of a classical woodwind quintet (flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, and bassoon).
This unusual instrumentation creates a fascinating bridge between jazz and classical music. Roviró blends a wide variety of musical influences—from Igor Stravinsky and Arvo Pärt to Brad Mehldau, Wayne Shorter, Hermeto Pascoal, and many other influential voices in music history—into a distinctive compositional language.
The resulting album is titled *everything has led us to this moment*. At its core lies the totality of human experience: both the joyful and the challenging moments that make us the people we are today. The compositions explore questions of fate, memory, and expectation, drawing inspiration from personal experiences, observations, and a wide variety of media influences.
The album was recorded in June 2026 at the Westbahn Studios in Vienna with a top-tier ensemble of internationally renowned young musicians. This makes it all the more exciting to now present this extraordinary project live for the first time.
