DESCRIPTION:\n\nEN \n\nThe Carmina Burana are widely known through Carl O
 rff’s famous cantata and through the sound-world recreated by medieval m
 usic performers since the 1960s. At their core\, however\, lies a thirte
 enth-century manuscript\, the Codex Buranus (D-Mbs Clm 4660-4660a)\, pre
 serving a large collection of Latin and vernacular poems with musical no
 tation. Celebrated for its lyrical\, satirical\, and dramatic texts\, th
 is manuscript is a key witness to medieval song culture. \n\nA comprehen
 sive study and digital edition of its texts and musical notation is curr
 ently being carried out as an SNSF-funded project at the Schola Cantorum
  Basiliensis (Carmina Burana Online). The questions\, challenges\, and n
 ew insights emerging from this project will be explored in this conferen
 ce\, which brings together both scholars and performers. The programme a
 ddresses various aspects of the Carmina Burana within their historical a
 nd cultural context. Particular attention will be given to their analysi
 s and editing and the challenges of an online edition in the context of 
 digital humanities\, as well as to their notation\, and to the different
  types of poetic and musical compositions found in this collection. \n\n
 At the crossroads of scholarly analysis and performance practice\, the c
 onference opens new perspectives for reviving the Codex Buranus in sound
 . Three concerts focusing on Latin songs\, German songs and the Passion 
 Play\, featuring students\, teachers and invited performers\, will showc
 ase the results of practical explorations undertaken at the Schola Canto
 rum Basiliensis. \n\nDE \n\nDie Carmina Burana sind weithin bekannt durc
 h Carl Orffs berühmte Kantate sowie durch die Klangwelt\, die seit den 1
 960er-Jahren von Ensembles für mittelalterliche Musik neu erschaffen wur
 de. Ihrem Kern nach jedoch liegt ihnen eine Handschrift des 13. Jahrhund
 erts zugrunde\, der Codex Buranus (D-Mbs Clm 4660-4660a)\, der eine umfa
 ngreiche Sammlung lateinischer und volkssprachiger Gedichte teilweise mi
 t Notation überliefert. Berühmt für ihre lyrischen\, satirischen und dra
 matischen Texte ist diese Handschrift ein zentrales Zeugnis der mittelal
 terlichen Liedkultur. \n\nEine umfassende Untersuchung und digitale Edit
 ion ihrer Texte und Notationen wird derzeit als vom SNF gefördertes Proj
 ekt an der Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (Carmina Burana Online) durchgefü
 hrt. Diese Tagung führt Wissenschaftler:innen und Musiker:innen zusammen
  und widmet sich den Fragen\, Herausforderungen und neuen Erkenntnissen\
 , die aus diesem Projekt hervorgehen. Das Programm beleuchtet verschiede
 ne Aspekte der Carmina Burana in ihrem historischen und kulturellen Kont
 ext. Im Fokus stehen neben der Analyse und Edition\, sowie den \n\nvielf
 ältigen Formen poetischer und musikalischer Kompositionen in dieser Samm
 lung auch die Herausforderungen der Digital Humanities. \n\nAn der Schni
 ttstelle von wissenschaftlicher Analyse und Aufführungspraxis eröffnet d
 ie Tagung neue Perspektiven für eine Wiederbelebung des Codex Buranus im
  Klang. Drei Konzerte\, die sich auf lateinische Lieder\, deutsche Liede
 r und das Passionsspiel konzentrieren und an denen sowohl Studierende wi
 e eingeladenen Musiker:innen mitwirken\, zeigen die Ergebnisse der prakt
 ischen Auseinandersetzung an der Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.
